If you children like LEGO, than they will like this. My 8 year put this together in 2 hrs. without any help and then took all his other Star Wars LEGO toys and had a battle. Held up very well and has some neat features to it.
It is awesome, I love it. But it would be more fun if there is another clone for the pilot.
A bright 9 year old boy who prides himself on doing his legos in one day-@12-15 hours, took two full days to complete this kit. This Star Wars Lego set deserves 5 stars.
It's been two days and my son is able to carry the completed project into another room and play with it a bit. This is the first really large Lego set we've had. I have never done a huge Lego set like this but I was pleasantly surprised that the instructions were easy to follow, even though there are two books of instructions to create the AT-Te. I'm happy to say that the hinged doors have all stayed on. The kids were up at 5:30 a.m. A few times it was hard to determine if the light grey, medium grey or black pieces were needed but we must have done it properly as the project went fine.My son was able to assist with most of the project and did certain parts completely unassisted (he built all the gun turrets himself as well as the cab and the last large gun).
I did make sure at every stage that all the pieces were completely snapped together so that probably helped. My only problem with this set was that I would have liked it if the figures were packaged seperately from the other pieces. Santa brought it for my 7 year old. There is none of the frustration that we experienced with the Hyena Droid Bomber breaking to bits. We completed it in stages and it took probably 5 or 6 hours total. We have the Hyena Droid Bomber and so I expected the AT-TE to fall apart as soon as it was completed. Although the black pieces on the turrets do fall off often, there are only a few other pieces that have fallen apart. I knew we would be up early on Christmas Day with the kids and that we would be trying to put off jumping right into the AT-TE.
and it would have been nice to open the box and hand my son the figures in one package so I could have a cup of coffee before we had to break open the packages and start sorting pieces.
A 7 year old most likely could handle this by themselves. In my opinion it is worth more than the asking price. The at te is probably so far the best lego set i have ever built. It is very easy to insert and remove the minifigures from the at te. Although i payed more than what the price is know when it came out. The at te is not very complecated to build even though it has alot of pieces. The design is very durable so you could play with it often. There are only two complaints i have for it i wished they gave you more minifigures and i think lego could've made the top hatches easier to put on.
